Ceramic Flap Disc

Ceramic flap disc is an industrial grinding tool, which is composed of ceramic aluminum oxide abrasive and high-strength fiberglass backing plate. It is widely used in processes such as grinding, deburring, weld processing and rough polishing of metal surfaces.

High Cutting Efficiency
The abrasive grains of ceramic flap discs are high in hardness, with a Mohs hardness of ≥9. This extremely high hardness means that the abrasive grains can generate a strong unit pressure when contacting the metal surface, making it easier to cut into the surface of the material, and increase its metal removal rate (MRR) to ≥90 mm³ per minute.

Strong Self-sharpening
The ceramic aluminum oxide abrasive used in ceramic flap discs has self-sharpening properties, that is, during the grinding process, when the abrasive is passivated, small cracks will automatically occur, exposing new sharp cutting edges and corners, keeping them continuously sharp, thereby extending the effective use time of a single ceramic flap disc to half an hour.

Solid Back Plate
The back plate of the ceramic flap disc is made of high-strength glass fiber reinforced resin. When running at a maximum speed of 11000RPM, it can stably support the entire disc structure, avoid problems such as emery cloth warping and grinding angle deviation caused by back plate deflection, and ensure the accuracy of grinding and the safety of the operator.

Weld Grinding
The ceramic flap disc is used to remove weld bulges and spatters at the welding site.

Surface Rust Removal
The ceramic flap disc can effectively remove the oxide scale, rust layer and old paint layer on the surface of steel.

Deburring
The ceramic flap disc is suitable for deburring the edges of metal parts after cutting or stamping.

Rough Grinding And Shaping
The ceramic flap disc is used for preliminary shaping and surface smoothing of metal workpieces.

Pretreatment Before Welding
The ceramic flap disc is used to grind the joint area before welding to remove oil, rust and oxide layer to improve welding quality.

1. Preparation

Ensure that you are wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, ear protection, and a dust mask.

Inspect the flap disc for any damage or defects before use. Do not use the disc if there are cracks or missing flaps.

2. Installation

Select the correct grinder or tool for the flap disc. Ensure it is in good working condition and properly adjusted.

Securely attach the flap disc to the grinder according to the manufacturer's instructions.

3. Operation

Start the grinder at a low speed and gradually increase it as needed. Avoid sudden starts or stops.

Hold the grinder firmly with both hands and maintain a stable grip.

Apply the flap disc evenly to the surface being worked on, using light to moderate pressure. Do not overexert or force the tool.

Move the flap disc in a smooth and controlled manner, avoiding jerky or erratic motions.

4. Maintenance and Storage

After use, turn off the grinder and allow the flap disc to come to a complete stop.

Inspect the flap disc again for any signs of damage. Replace it if necessary.

Clean the grinder and store the flap disc in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture.
