Black Silicon Carbide
Black Silicon Carbide (SiC), also known as Carborundum, emery grain, is mainly made from petroleum coke and quartz sand, to high temperatures in a large open Acheson furnace. Black silicon carbide is widely used for bonded abrasive such as abrasive stone, polishing stone, grinding wheel advanced ceramic. Black silicon carbide is also used for coated abrasive such as waterproof abrasive paper, abrasive cloth and so on.
Black Silicon Carbide Moh's hardness is around 9.2-9.3, Micro hardness is 2940-3320kg/mm2, specific gravity is 3.20-3.25g/cm3.
We have been producing the Black Silicon Carbide grains and micro powder for more than 25 years in China. We own the most advanced production line, testing equipment and technology. So our Black Silicon Carbide grains and micro powder enjoy the good reputation in our customers all over the world.
Main Application
Our Black Silicon Carbide is widely used in:
Solar wafer, semiconductor wafer and quartz chip wire sawing and lapping,
bonded and coated abrasive tools: stone polishing, abrasive stone, oil stone, grinding wheels, abrasive paper, abrasive cloth, brass, aluminum, stone, leather and rubber.

FAQ
Black silicon carbide is a highly versatile material with many applications across different industries. To help you understand this product better, we have put together five frequently asked questions about it.
Q: 1. What is black silicon carbide, and how is it manufactured?
A: Black silicon carbide is a type of silicon carbide that has a black color due to the inclusion of carbon. It is made by smelting silica and carbon together in an electric furnace at high temperatures. The resulting material is then crushed, screened, and sorted into the desired sizes.
Q: 2. What are the advantages of using black silicon carbide?
A: Black silicon carbide has many advantages over other materials. It is harder than aluminum oxide and can cut and grind materials with ease. It also has excellent thermal conductivity and can withstand high temperatures, making it ideal for use in high-temperature applications.
Q: 3. What are some common applications of black silicon carbide?
A: Black silicon carbide is used in various industries, including abrasives, refractories, metallurgy, and electronics. It is commonly used for grinding, cutting, and polishing materials such as glass, ceramics, and metals. It is also used in the production of semiconductors and solar cells.
Q: 4. How does black silicon carbide compare to other types of silicon carbide?
A: Black silicon carbide is denser and harder than green silicon carbide, making it more suited for more demanding applications. It also has a lower thermal expansion coefficient, making it more stable at high temperatures.
Q: 5. How is black silicon carbide priced, and where can I purchase it?
A: Black silicon carbide's price varies depending on the size and quantity you need. You can purchase black silicon carbide from specialty companies that deal in abrasives and cutting tools. Make sure to buy from reputable companies to ensure high-quality products.
In conclusion, black silicon carbide is a valuable material that has many applications across different industries. Its notable advantages include hardness, thermal conductivity, and stability, making it suitable for a wide range of applications.
